Sugimoto Temple Visit

I, Kyota Kawabe, visited Sugimoto Temple on August 2, 2016 with my Korean friend.

Sugimoto Temple is the oldest temple in Kamakura.

It was built in 8th century during Nara era.

Main steps are covered by moss and under

“No Thoroughfare” due to safety reason for tourists.

The moss creates some kind beauty.

I liked atmosphere created by its oldness and natural posture, especially the main building and a gate with thatched roof.

It is on the way to Hokokuji, Bomboo temple, from Tsurugaoka Hachiman shrine. About 20 min walk from Kamakura station.
